The University of Sydney’s School of Aerospace, Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering, is considered as one of the world’s leading research institutes in unmanned systems and automation and has assisted many operators, including high speed jet-drone operators gain regulatory approval.

Aeronautical Engineering at The University of Sydney was established in 1939 by Australian Commonwealth Act of Parliament, resulting from the Wimperis Report recommendation to establish sovereign capabilities in Aeronautical Engineering. Over the decades, there has been many pioneering research projects involving unmanned aircraft, and this multidisciplinary aerospace engineering group continues to develop flight platform systems of unique capabilities to meet the requirements from new applications.
